University of Health Sciences – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City Welcomes Over 1,100 Freshmen at 2025-2026 Academic Year Opening Ceremony

On the early morning of 5th September, 2025, the University of Health Sciences – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (UHS – VNUHCM) held its opening ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year, welcoming 1,131 freshmen across five programmes: Medicine, Pharmacy, Odonto Stomatology, Traditional Medicine, and Nursing. This marks the first cohort since the institution’s official designation as UHS – VNUHCM.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Phan Bach Thang, President of UHS – VNUHCM, emphasised the University’s mission to train highly skilled healthcare professionals in an interdisciplinary, innovative, and humane academic environment, fostering doctors, pharmacists, and nurses with both expertise and ethics.

For 2025-2030, UHS – VNUHCM outlined four strategic priorities: developing a digital university-hospital model, advancing key disciplines and interdisciplinary research centers, operationalising its University Clinic-Hospital, and establishing sustainable financial autonomy through partnerships with businesses and hospitals.

This academic year, the university will expand training in emerging fields such as Hospital Management, Medical-Pharmaceutical Technology, Medical Physics, Mental Health, and AI in Health Sciences, alongside new interdisciplinary master’s and doctoral programs. By December 2025, three new buildings (YB1, YB2, YB3) spanning 33,000 square meters will be completed, providing a modern and sustainable academic space.
