University of Health Sciences – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City and Thu Duc General Hospital Fortify Strategic Partnership for Enhanced Medical Education and Clinical Excellence

On the morning of 27th August, 2025, the University of Health Sciences – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (UHS – VNUHCM) and Thu Duc General Hospital held a pivotal working session. The meeting aimed to review their enduring “Institute – University” cooperation and strategise on strengthening the integration of training, research, and clinical practice for the forthcoming period. This collaborative endeavor underscores both institutions’ commitment to advancing healthcare education and service.

The high-level delegation from the University of Health Sciences – VNUHCM included Professor Dr. Phan Bach Thang – President, Professor Dr. Dang Van Phuoc – Honorary President, along with the Board of Presidency and esteemed Leaders from various Offices and Faculties. Representing Thu Duc General Hospital were Specialist Level II Dr. Vu Tri Thanh – Hospital Director, accompanied by the Board of Directors and heads of key departments and divisions.

Thu Duc General Hospital, with its origins as Thu Duc District Hospital, has evolved into a prominent Grade I general hospital boasting a capacity of 750 beds. The facility diligently serves a large patient population, receiving an average of 4,000 to 4,200 visits daily. The hospital has maintained a robust and enduring partnership with UHS – VNUHCM, dating back to when the University was still operating as the School of Medicine – VNUHCM. It stands as a pivotal clinical training ground for UHS, currently providing practical education to over 1,000 students. In a notable achievement in 2024, the two entities successfully co-organised their annual Scientific Conference, making a significant impact on scientific research activities within the health sciences domain. This productive working session further solidifies the spirit of comprehensive cooperation between the University and the Hospital. Both institutions are firmly aligned towards the shared objective of cultivating a highly skilled and professionally competent medical workforce. This concerted effort is poised to make substantial and practical contributions to the overall development of the healthcare sector and the paramount mission of public health protection.
