Distinguished Odonto-Stomatology Scholar Appointed as Vice-President of the University of Health Sciences (VNU-HCM)

On 8th July 2025, the Chancellor of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City signed a Decision appointing Assoc. Prof. PhD. DDS. Pham Anh Vu Thuy, Dean of the Faculty of Odonto Stomatology, to serve as Vice-President of the University of Health Sciences (VNU-HCM) for a fixed term.

Assoc. Prof. PhD. DDS. Pham Anh Vu Thuy, Dean of the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology, has been appointed Vice-President of the University of Health Sciences (VNU-HCM).

Assoc. Prof. PhD. DDS. Pham Anh Vu Thuy was born in 1974 in Binh Thuan (now part of Lam Dong Province). He graduated as a Doctor of Odonto-Stomatology from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2000, successfully defended his doctoral thesis in Odonto-Stomatology at Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan in 2011, and was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2018.

Beyond his formal degree programmes, Assoc. Prof. PhD. DDS. Pham Anh Vu Thuy completed an Inter-University Diploma (Diplôme Inter-Universitaire – DIU) in implant surgery, periodontics and prosthodontics awarded by the University of Bordeaux, France in 2013. He also participated in advanced training courses at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and Yonsei University, South Korea in oral pathology, periodontics and dental implant surgery. Furthermore, he currently serves as a member of the Executive Board of the Vietnamese Association of Odonto Stomatology Surgery.

Prior to his appointment as Vice-President, Assoc. Prof. PhD. DDS. Pham Anh Vu Thuy held various administrative positions at the University of Health Sciences (VNU-HCM), including Director of the Postgraduate Training Department, Director of the Training Department, and Dean of the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology.

During his career, Assoc. Prof. PhD. DDS. Pham Anh Vu Thuy has served as principal investigator and participated in numerous research projects at various levels, and is the author of over 100 scholarly publications, more than half of which have been published in peer-reviewed international journals. He has received numerous certificates of merit and titles from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Training, and Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, notably including “Distinguished Educator at Ministry Level” in 2022, and “Innovative Initiative with Effective Application and Ministry-Level Impact” in 2023.
