Brand Identity of the University of Health Sciences (UHS)
2024-07-15 10:36:00
On June 3rd, 2024, the Prime Minister of Vietnam signed Decision No. 472/QĐ-TTg, officially establishing the University of Health Sciences (UHS) as a member institution of the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM). The university was formed from the existing School of Medicine – VNU-HCM.
To ensure consistency and professionalism in its brand identity, UHS has undertaken legal procedures to register intellectual property rights for its brand elements. These include typography, colour schemes, textual representations (name), and graphical representations (logo and its components).
Securing these rights enables UHS – VNUHCM to proactively protect the university against infringements such as unauthorised copying, counterfeiting, or misuse of any part of its brand identity without the university’s consent.
The UHS brand, formerly known as the School of Medicine – VNU-HCM, has been developed over the past 15 years through the efforts of generations of leaders, staff, students, and alumni. UHS hopes to continue receiving support and protection for its brand from UHSer and the community.

3. Design Overview
The UHS logo employs a modern design style, predominantly featuring deep blue to represent trust and intelligence, complemented by green to symbolise freshness and positive prospects.
The icon block comprises the three letters U, H, and S, deliberately arranged to reflect the university’s abbreviation. The letter ‘S’ (Science) is stylised from the image of a DNA strand, blending seamlessly with the letters ‘U’ (University) and ‘H’ (Health) to create a balanced composition. The letter ‘U’ is stylised from the image of a stethoscope, closely associated with the health sector.
Additionally, the stylised ‘S’ embodies elements such as a stack of books, a pen nib, and a flame, representing knowledge and aspiration.
I’ll translate this content about logo usage guidelines into formal academic British English.
