Administration of Science Technology and Training, Ministry of Health Visits and Works with University of Health Sciences – Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City

On 22nd October, 2025, the Administration of Science Technology and Training, Ministry of Health, led by Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang – Vice President of the National Medical Council and Director of the Administration – visited and worked with the University of Health Sciences – VNUHCM regarding training, continuous training, and scientific research.

The delegation from the Administration of Science Technology and Training also included Dr. Nguyen Anh Son, Head of the Training Management Division; Dr. Vo Thi Nhi Ha, Head of the Scientific Research and Technology Development Management Division; along with other members.

Receiving the delegation, on the side of the University of Health Sciences – VNUHCM, there was Prof. Dr. Phan Bach Thang, President of the University; Vice Presidents including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Anh Vu Thuy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thanh Toan, MBA. Nguyen Hoang Dung; together with leaders of faculties and departments.

At the meeting, representatives of the university reported an overview of health workforce training activities, scientific research, and the university’s development orientation in the coming time. Both sides had profound, frank, and open exchanges about opportunities and challenges in training the health sciences sector, especially as new regulations and policies of the industry are being implemented synchronously.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Director of the Administration of Science Technology and Training (Ministry of Health), congratulated the University of Health Sciences – VNUHCM on becoming an official member of the medical sector’s human resource training and science-technology system.

He expressed his hope that the university would be an important link in the health system and strengthen close coordination with the Ministry of Health. Besides strictly implementing Resolution 71 on higher education and Resolution 57 on science, technology, and innovation, special attention should be paid to Resolution 72 on health and specialized legal documents, particularly in the context that the national medical licensing examination will be applied from 2027.

“The Ministry of Health is ready to support and accompany the university in building output standards and training programs aimed at the common goal of improving the quality of human resources, best serving the care and protection of people’s health,” emphasised Director Nguyen Ngo Quang.

Prof. Dr. Phan Bach Thang, President of the University, thanked the Ministry of Health in general and the Administration of Science Technology and Training in particular for their close direction. He committed to maximising the capacity of the teaching and research staff to meet the development requirements of the health sector in the new period.

Representatives of the university’s faculties and departments also shared many practical opinions, focusing on contents such as: the roadmap for implementing competency-based training, solutions to promote applied scientific research, and cooperation in continuous training.

Members from the Ministry of Health acknowledged, gave positive feedback, and provided specific orientations to enhance the connection between the University of Health Sciences – VNUHCM and units within the health system.

The visit and working session of the Administration of Science Technology and Training, Ministry of Health demonstrated deep concern for the University of Health Sciences – VNUHCM, while opening up practical cooperation opportunities to improve training quality linked with practice, contributing to the development of the national health system.
